Titanic Memories
It’s all Paul’s fault,
During the months of emailing each other back and forth, Paul recommended that lookup a Titanic group on yahoo groups. The group has since moved but I was able to finally locate it after some trouble. The group was created for people with past-life memories of Titanic, though they do allow people who are interested in past lives alone, to join. I can honestly say that I love being a part of the group.
It’s a very welcoming place to be and there are lots of people sharing their stories. We have a community that currently outnumbers the number of people that survived the disaster. Photos are shared, stories are told and in a way, we all attempt to heal each other and ourselves.
Of the main group, we have also formed our own small group we love to call “The Linen Closet.’ In our ‘girls” group, we have three gals I will call Rose. Jade and Lucy.
The first is Rose. She’s a female a few months younger than me. She is appropriately named for being the gal who is still in love with Jack, despite “it’s been 84 years". No, I don’t mean Jack Dawson of James Cameron’s Titanic; I mean Jack Phillips the senior wireless officer. Rose claims to be Emily Ryerson, a first-class passenger. If you read Paul Amirault’s book then you would Miss Ryerson and Mr. Phillips shared a few moments aboard the ill-fated ship, never to see each other again. Rose/Emily lived and as the real-life and fictional stories merge, Jack/Jack did not survive. Rose and Paul were able to connect again and trade memories. They were able to pass each other’s tests and believe the other’s stories. I'm happy for them but a bit jealous that I have not found Henry yet to experience the same joy.
I did however get a different type of gift. While trading war stories, Rose managed to find that she and Emily Ryerson are distant cousins. Not only that but while providing the details, I know noticed that Rose and I share a common ancestor making us both distant cousins as well. I also can claim kinship to the Ryerson family, which I find to be both exciting and painful.
The second is Jade. Also a female about a decade or so younger than myself. Jade is the goofball of the group who in a while can keep us all going. She remembers being Roger Bricoux, the cellist of Titanic’s band. Roger’s story isn’t as happy as Rose's. Like all of the other band members, Roger did not survive. According to Jade, he suffered a broken neck and drowned when he fell off of the ship. What is interesting is that Jade was born with a neck injury nearly identical. Jade and Roger share such similar facial features, that they can easily pass for siblings. Jade provides amusement for the group and can come up with not only interesting discussions but hours of the hilarity of the oddest subjects. She also provides some rather interesting insight to a nearly unknown man who is credited as a hero by playing till the end.
The last of our group is called Lucy. Lucy remembers being Lucy Downie Bride, the wife of wireless operator Harold Bride. Harold met Lucy some years after Titanic so she was not involved in the incident yet has a connection all her own. Despite the fact that she is the ‘odd man out” of our group, she offers her own reflection and opinions of the disaster echoed through the ‘survivor’s guilt” that Harold most likely suffered with. Lucy is the oldest of us gals but is young enough to fit well into our group. Being the only parent of the group, she can easily call us to order. Her unique perspective on the accident often gives us something to think about.
For those interested in the group who may have their own Titanic Reincarnation story. I highly recommend visiting. https://www.facebook.com/groups/titanicmemories
